The New Year

"The Hollows" 8.5"x11 roughly. oil on four wood blocks (commissioned work)

"Wine Study" 22"x30". oil on canvas (commissioned work)

It's been a good long while since my last post. Alot's been happening since then (alot has changed!). Mainly, I've been back into painting mode, I've had some major inspiration in the past few weeks. I think some of it is due to the fact that I've been doing a bit more commissioned work. It's kinda got me back in the groove that I so desperately needed to be in. If you're interested in commissioning a piece please contact me via e-mail (johnnydeckermiller@gmail.com). Working on a new series of my own right now that is based around the idea of decay and beauty in nature (images to come soon).

Been listening to some great albums lately as well. Alot of great ambient electronic music from Type Records. Also going back to some post punk roots with Rowland S. Howard and his collaboration Nikki Sudden "Kiss You Kidnapped Charabanc". Howard was the eclectic and unhinged guitarist for The Birthday Party, and his inspirations were drawn from old jazz, blues, and rockabilly all processed through a jagged, dark, noisy post-punk aesthetic. Dig it!
